We’re so excited that your family is interested in Cub Scouting! And now that Cub Scouts is open to both girls and boys, even more youth will have access to the awesome character development and values-based leadership opportunities that Scouting provides. Cub Scouting is more than an activity. It is adventure, learning, and discovery around every corner.
Cub Scouts is a year-round program offering fun activities that promote character and leadership development. Parents are encouraged to play an active role in our programs. Whole families can now participate in Cub Scouts. Pack 923 offers programs for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Cub Scouts embraces the outdoors through camping, hiking and water fun. We also focus on helping our communities through service projects, STEM development, and building confident kids through a wide range of activities. Our Cub Scout program is designed to develop physical (well-tuned and healthy), mental (able to think and solve problems) and emotional (self-control, courage, empathy and respect for self and others) fitness.
Den Meetings
Den meetings are held every Wednesday under the direction of a Den Leader who plans activities to help the cubs through their Adventures, and the goal of completing their rank requirements. Den meetings are usually held at Franklin County Fire District #3, Station 33, 8721 Selph Landing Rd, Pasco, WA 99301, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Dens are led by volunteers, usually parents of the children in that den. There are many ways you can help the Pack/Den. The Pack is led by a Cubmaster who makes sure the programs are being followed, and everyone is having fun. The Pack is overseen by a Chartered Organization. Tri County Firefighter's Local 4965 is Pack 923’s chartered organization.
The Cub Scout pack is made up of all the dens, which meet monthly at the pack meeting, led by the Cubmaster. There are games, skits, songs, ceremonies, and presentations of achievements and badges that Cub Scouts earned during that month. This is where families can see the achievements of their Cub Scout. Pack Meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Franklin County Fire District #3, Station 33, 8721 Selph Landing Rd, Pasco, WA 99301, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Our pack's program year follows the school year, beginning in September and ending in May. We do hold one event or activity a month during the summer for those scouts who would like to participate. These events are not mandatory and will not impact advancement if the scout's family has other summertime plans.
We also hold many other activities throughout the year to make sure we have as much fun as possible! Campouts, service projects, parades, field trips, and even District and Council events where several different Packs come together to do something on a grand scale. The pack, including families, also participates in other special events throughout the year, including:
· Pinewood Derby®: You can build and race a model car with your child.
· Blue and Gold banquet: Cub Scouting’s birthday party, for all pack members and their families, takes place in February.
· Camping: Overnight and day camp opportunities introduce your family to the camping experience.
· Spooktacular: A one day Halloween event for the entire family.
· Service projects: Packs may participate in food drives, conservation projects, or other community activities.
· Field trips and special outings: Den outings are a great way to learn more about the people and places in your community.
